Spring in the Smoky Mountains Workshop - April 26-29, 2018 (Limited to 6 attendees)
I'm excited to announce my newest workshop that takes place in The Great
Smoky Mountains National Park in the spring. Again, we'll
spend our time on the north side of the Park, operating out of the city of
Townsend, TN - a peaceful location near one of the main entrances to the Park
and several key destinations for our workshop including Cades Cove, Little
River, and the areas of Tremont, Greenbrier, and Metcalf Bottoms. We
expect to benefit from spring rains and snow melt which should produce
significant water flow for rivers, creeks, and streams - meaning beautiful
waterfalls. These conditions will also produce stunning wildflower blooms.
We will use these wildflowers in a wide range of compositions including fine
detail in macro shots. As always, I will have scouted ahead and will have
the premium destinations selected for the type of photographs we hope to create.
Check out The Great Smoky Mountains Springtime Workshop Gallery
to get a sampling of the types of
scenes you can anticipate seeing/photographing.
The workshop fee is $525 with 1/2 of the fee due by February 26, BD and
the balance due by March 26, 2018. If you wish to pay by credit card,
email me for an eInvoice from Square. Please see the
Workshop Overview page and
F.A.Q. page for important workshop details including my refund policy.
You will find a listing of the forms that must be completed and other detailed
information located in the PDF Gallery.
In Townsend, we'll be staying
at the Talley Ho Inn
that is on the main
road running through town. You should plan to be there before 6pm on
TBD. We will have an arrival meeting and dinner at that time. Please note that you are responsible for your
own reservations directly with the Tally Ho. Rates are $97 for all 3
What to Expect
We'll meet, greet, eat, and plan at our initial gathering on Thursday.
Expect to shoot from before sunrise until after sunset on both Friday and Saturday.
On Sunday, we will shoot
sunrise until noon and then depart.
In the evenings, I hope to conduct a review of the day's shooting including a critique
of images captured that day. It would be a good idea to bring your laptop
to download and do any initial processing of images you shot. Although we
will be using the LCD panel on your camera during the day, this is not an
acceptable review device for a full critique or evaluation.
A detailed planning document can be
downloaded at this link.
It should be printed and used as a checklist for workshop preparation.
